The Objectives of the WC SBTC

To promote, encourage, foster and advance the breeding, wellbeing and interest of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed.

To observe and adhere to the breed standard of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed of dogs as set by the Kennel Union of Southern Africa.

              To organise and host shows.

To promote a better understanding of the breed and create better knowledge of dogs and dog affairs, to promote goodwill amongst people interested in Staffords and towards Staffords.

To promote the Stafford breed through breed publications, to educate people to be responsible dog owners, to assist breeders where necessary and to educate potential buyers to be informed before they buy.

              History

The WC SBT Club was founded and affiliated to the Kennel Union of South Africa since 1991. The founders were Schally & Stella Müller, Liz & Brian Mans and Louis Visagie. Schally and Stella are Honory Life Members and currently serving on the Clubs' Committee along with a small, but efficient team.

Initially Staffies were of poor quality in general and initially there was little interest to improve the breed. Their was no one to assist or educate new breeders to breed better specimens and to promote the breed and/or educate the public. The quality of Staffords have improved over the years. The Club has been successful in achieving their objects by uplifting breed quality over the past 17 years of existence in the Western Cape area of South Africa.  Today we are proud to be one of the strongest Stafford Clubs in South Africa, with an average of 150 paid up Members and 40 Life Members.

The Club, its Committee and Members are grateful for the financial donations by the Club's late President Mr. Dennis Ryke and by the support from breeders and Stafford enthusiasts.

The Club and its Committee pride themselves in hosting 2 Open Shows and 1 Championship Show annually. The Club also hosts regular Breed Clinics and Breed Seminars with experienced speakers to help people to learn to know the breed they love!Cape Town
